Link Budget Calculator

STEPS TO USE THE CALCULATOR:

Click OK the Evaluation Only prompt. Select the Link Budget Tab first to do Link Budget Calculation. Other Tabs are Linked to this Link Budget calculator values and provide summary (if needed)
1) Type the Satellite Name, Name of Rx. Station/Hub. These are for information only
2) Enter values of Sat Long e.g. 105.5 for Asiasat satellite, ES Lat, ES Long (Tx ES)
3) Enter values for Satellite G/T, SFD, Input Backoff, Output Backoff, Saturation EIRP, Transponder Bandwidth, Uplink Frequency, Downlink Frequency
4) Enter Symbol Rate (7.12 Msps) as per the calculation done using Data Rate calculator for the allocated satellite Bandwidth and the Allocated BW (e.g. 9 MHz) above it. These fields are at the right bottom side of the sheet
5) Enter desired FEC * RS Code Rate value e.g. 3/4 or 0.73, etc
6) Select QPSK or 8PSK from the drop down of Modulation field
7) Enter Noise Bandwidth Factor value e.g. 1.25 for 25% Roll Off Factor, etc
8) Enter Tx Antenna Diameter (m) and Tx. Antenna Pointing Loss under TX STATION DETAILS
9) Enter Rx Antenna Diameter (select from Drop down), Rx. Antenna Pointing Loss, Pre LNA Losses under RX STATION DETAILS
10) Select TX. Rain Zone and Rx. Rain Zone respectively from Drop Down respectively. Rain Zone map has been made available on this page itself for your convenience
11) Calculate Rx Antenna Elevation Angle using dish pointer, etc and enter the value at right bottom
12) Adjust the “”Power Amp Output/Carr”” for both In Clear Sky and With Rain column one by one under TX E/S AMPLIFIER POWER SIZING to get Link Margin of roughly 2 dB in each cell under TOTAL LINK ANALYSIS
